Rasmus Kristensen, on loan from Leeds United, appears to have been omitted off AS Roma’s roster list for this season’s Europa League. According to Corriere dello Sport, Kristensen may be the unlucky guy to be left out of the squad owing to financial fair play limitations.
Kristensen has struggled to settle in the Italian city after signing on loan from Leeds in the summer, and it appears he is one of Jose Mourinho’s most expendable first-team players. Roma will be able to remove seven players from its UEFA squad list this season, including those who have left the club and those with long-term ailments, including England international Tammy Abraham.
However, due to financial constraints imposed on the club, only five of their new players may be eligible to compete in European competition this season. With transfer fees, depreciation, wage costs, and commissions to consider, the study suggests Kristensen may miss out due to the inclusion of two other right-backs in Rick Karsdrop and Zeki Celik.
Sardar Azmoun is expected to be left out, but Evan Ndicka, Renato Sanches, Leandro Paredes, Houssem Aouar, and Romelu Lukaku are expected to be included. Diego Llorente, who returned to the Stadio Olimpico on loan from Leeds this summer, is anticipated to stay on the list after guiding Roma to the Europa League final the previous season.
Kristensen’s time in Serie A has not gone as planned thus far. Fans slammed the Denmark international after he made his debut against Salernitana last month before being replaced at halftime against Hellas Verona a week later.
The 26-year-old was then benched for Friday’s match against AC Milan, which he watched from the sidelines. After a difficult debut season with Leeds, Kristensen will be eager to get some momentum in Italy before returning to Elland Road in the summer.
