Given that the club’s sale is reportedly imminent, Farhad Moshiri’s problems with Everton will soon come to an end.
According to reports, the US-based investment firm 777 Partners is close to finalizing a deal to purchase the Toffees.
After years of chaos on and off the field at Goodison Park, this news will please Merseyside’s blue half’s supporters.
But why exactly is Moshiri selling Everton now, and how will this impact the team’s brand-new stadium? talkSPORT.com examines…
Everton’s sale by Farhad Moshiri has a purpose.
Due to financial difficulties and numerous fan protests, Moshiri is currently selling Everton.
Over the years, the Toffees supporters have expressed their dislike for the owner by demonstrating before games.
Additionally, the fans demanded the dismissal of the entire board, and a plane was even rented to fly over the stadium with a banner stating “League’s worst-run club.”
Since then, a number of top board members have resigned from their posts, but Moshiri and the chairman Bill Kenwright have remained.
The businessman told a fans advisory group that he was in talks with “top investors,” but he has never publicly indicated that the club is for sale.
And according to BBC Sport, a source acknowledged that Moshiri has been looking for investment in the team for some time.
Everton reported financial losses earlier this year for the fifth consecutive year, and they must shortly go before an impartial panel for an accused FFP violation.
This, together with the £700 million or more spent on building the new stadium for their team, has put Moshiri in a dire financial situation.
As a result of the growing problem at the club, it appears that he has finally made the decision to sell, and a deal with 777 Partners is almost complete.
