Liam Loughlan is being evaluated by Mansfield Town, according to their official club social media account.
In preparation for a prospective transfer, Mansfield Town is keeping an eye on the midfielder.
Loughlan, 21, last competed for Salford City, a League Two rival, although he severed connections with the North West team last year.
He was included in the starting lineup for the Stags’ Central League Cup match against Notts County on Wednesday (see tweet below). Additionally, first-team players Baily Cargill and John-Joe O’Toole saw some playing time.
Mansfield pursuing Free Agent
Before the rest of the season, Mansfield may view Loughlan as someone who will increase their squad’s depth and level of competition. Additionally, he has time on his side and the chance to improve and advance in the future.
He began his professional career with Leicester City and progressed through the local team’s academy. The child was a regular for the Foxes at various youth levels, but he never played for the club’s senior team while he was a player at the King Power Stadium.
2020 saw Loughlan’s release, and Salford afterwards snatched him up on a free transfer. He first joined the Ammies B squad before making eight first-team appearances and spending time on loan at Farsley Celtic in the non-league away from the Peninsula Stadium.
He has been considering his next move in the game since being released from Neil Wood’s team a little more than a year ago. He now has the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities, and Mansfield will decide in the following weeks whether to provide an offer to him.
