HE COULD BE PUNISHED: Footage leaked what Lucas Paqueta did to Manchester City staff before 3-1 win on Saturday

Manchester City and Lucas Paqueta were involved in a spectacular transfer controversy this summer, with the Citizens having a deal rejected.

According to Sky Sports, an £80 million deal was nearly completed when the Brazil international became the subject of an FA and FIFA betting probe.

The deal might still happen in 2024, and judging by what Lucas Paqueta did before Manchester City’s 3-1 win on Saturday, the relationship between the two parties is solid.

What is the backstory?
Simon Bajkowski, the Manchester Evening News’ chief Manchester City correspondent, observed the South American walking across to the sideline soon before kick-off.

Following the spectacular transfer situation this summer, Paqueta was pictured greeting Guardiola and the Manchester City coaching staff in front of thousands of supporters at the London Stadium.

According to Bajkowski, “Lucas Paqueta goes over to greet Guardiola and the Manchester City coaching staff before the game.”

According to a Manchester Evening News report on the 3-1 win, the West Ham No.10 also spoke with those in Manchester City’s dugout.

Paqueta contacted Guardiola, Juanma Lillo, and the rest of Manchester City’s staff, indicating that he wants to remain in their thoughts despite missing out on a move to the Etihad Stadium – according to talkSPORT, the Brazilian was highly interested in the move.

What Lucas Paqueta did against Manchester City
Guardiola finally signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves, despite being impressed by Paqueta’s performance.

According to WhoScored, the 26-year-old had 79 touches and completed 64 passes, considerably more than any of his teammates.

That may appear insignificant, but Paqueta still managed to get a foothold in the game against Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden.
The South American also demonstrated his industrial side with three successful tackles – only Vladimir Coufal on West Ham’s side had more with four.

Despite signing Nunes, Guardiola is still a fan of Paqueta following his excellent performance on Saturday.
