HUGE BLOW: Daniel Farke confirms “sad news” with major Leeds United injury setback

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke stated that right-back Djed Spence missed the 3-0 win at Millwall due to a knee injury.

The Whites have won their second game of the season when Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter ran riot at the New Den, winning 3-0 and clinching back-to-back clean sheets.

Leeds’ Luke Ayling returned to the starting lineup after Djed Spence suffered an injury during the international break.

What’s the most recent news on Spence?
Spence was initially listed as a doubt for today’s game by Daniel Farke, indicating that the team was unsure about his recent knee injury.

However, following a 3-0 victory at the New Den, Farke announced devastating news for the club, with Spence out indefinitely due to ligament damage (via Beren Cross):

“Unfortunately, Spence has received bad news because Djed has torn his lateral ligament.” I’ll be gone for a few weeks. There is no need for surgery, but please wait for the evaluation.”

While no surgery appears to be required for the right-back, it appears that such a setback will keep him out for an extended amount of time.

Where will Leeds finish in the 23/24 season?

Djed Spence confident he and Leeds United will prove an ideal match
It’s heartbreaking news.

Ayling was much better today in a game that put him to the test defensively, but he held his own and set up a number of assaults as well.

However, Spence is one of the greatest in the league at his position, and having him out doesn’t help us generate momentum.

We need our luck to change due to injuries.
