Leeds United have named their starting XI for their Championship match against Millwall at The Den on Sunday 17 September, as they try to return from the international break with a win.
Sam Byram returns from injury, while Ilia Gruev and Jaidon Anthony join the bench with the in-form Jame Shackleton, who has been omitted from the starting lineup to make room for Bryam. Despite doubts about his fitness after withdrawing from international duty, Archie Gray stays in the starting lineup.
New addition Djed Spence has not been cleared to play yet, and injuries have kept him out. Out of the matchday squad are Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, and Stuart Dallas.
Attempting to recover
Leeds will be seeking to bounce back from a disheartening 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last time out, and the international break has been beneficial to them as a number of players who had previously been absent will return to the squad.
The extra cutting-edge in the Leeds squad might decide the game in South London, with Joel Piroe remaining the Whites’ strongest threat, and they may rely on him to supply the goals they lacked against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Yorkshire side enters the game in 18th place, and while it is still early in the season, doubts may arise if they do not take all three points from their visit to The Den today.
Leeds will require key players to step up, with three points on the road crucial if they want to surge towards the top of the league, as they need to start the wheels in motion fast if they want to achieve a successful season under Farke’s guidance.
