BREAKING: Eddie Howe to hand two surprise call-ups to face AC Milan – including potential record-breaker

Newcastle come into the game (5:45pm BST) off the back of a 1-0 Premier League win over Brentford, with head coach Eddie Howe anticipated to make a number of changes to his team.
As Howe considers his starting lineup, Alexander Isak, Miguel Almiron, and Sandro Tonali might all be considered. However, with The Magpies permitted to select up to 12 substitutes for the San Siro fixture, certain players will be called on to the bench for the first time this season.

Most significantly, 17-year-old midfielder Lewis Miley has traveled with Howe, who confirmed during his Monday night news conference at the San Siro that the teenager will be part of Newcastle’s matchday squad.

Miley has been named to Newcastle’s ‘List B’ for the encounter, which is for players born on or before January 1, 2002, and who have been eligible to play for the club for at least two years or three years, including a one-year loan term.

Elliot Anderson falls under the same category and has been named to Newcastle’s ‘List B’ for the game, which must be submitted no later than 24 hours before kickoff.

Paul Dummett, who was nominated to Newcastle’s Champions League squad as one of two club-trained players alongside Sean Longstaff, might also be named to the bench for the first time this season.

“The experience, regardless of whether he gets onto the pitch or not, is really, really valuable,” he added. “That’s how you tackle the situation.

“Just take it all in, see it all, and I hope it will really, really help him out throughout his career, and he can have fond memories and draw from the experience he’s going to come into contact with in the next couple of days.”

Miley impressed in preseason for Newcastle but is yet to be named to the bench in a competitive match this season.

Newcastle were required under Champions League squad standards to leave four senior players out of their first-team squad for the competition’s group stage. Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo, Matt Ritchie, and goalkeeper Mark Gillespie have all been left out of Manchester United’s squad for the forthcoming matches against Milan, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund.
