JUST IN: Club handed injury boost ahead Brentford tie as medical director provides update.

Rico Henry will be out for the remainder of the 2023–24 season, according to Brentford.

The left-back will need surgery after the Bees’ 1-0 loss against Newcastle United caused an ACL tear. Henry, who has played for Brentford for the longest time and has missed just five games total since the team was promoted to the Premier League in 2021, won’t be available when Everton visits west London on Saturday (17.30 BST).

Neil Greig, head of medicine at Brentford, told the club’s website that Rico will need surgery in the upcoming week or so and would, regrettably, need a lengthy recuperation period.

Despite the disappointment, Rico is already focused on using this as a chance to get stronger and fitter than before because he has had a similar experience in the past. We shall be by his side every step of the way.

Everton, who has only earned one point through their first five games, takes on Brenford in search of their first win of the year.
