The Catalan tabloid Sport published an article on Wednesday that basically requests that Brazil manager Diniz select Vitor Roque for the upcoming international break.
The 18-year-old now plays for Athletico Paranaense, but Barcelona stated in July that they had agreed to sign him. He’s scheduled to come physically next summer, however a January arrival isn’t out of the question.
Catalans are outraged that the teenager was not selected for the last break… perhaps ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison.
Sport go for the jugular with Richarlison, and their comments are, to put it mildly, revolting.
‘Richarlison, who began both games, came out crying in the first as a result of frustration; then, in the second, he announced in a mixed zone that he would go seek psychological therapy to work on his anxiousness,’ according to Sport. He claimed to have off-field issues (which sounded like an alibi and a public diversion as a result of his poor performance).
That’s a horrible way of framing things, and it appears to skew the reality in order to fit the Barcelona goal.
Richarlison has 20 goals and eight assists in 46 appearances for Brazil, a very impressive international output. He hasn’t scored in his previous five outings for Brazil, but he was flying before that, and he was unlucky in the last match when VAR took an eternity to rule out an offside goal.
Tottenham’s player returned to the scoreboard this weekend, with a critical late contribution that helped Spurs turn the game around against Sheffield United.
According to Sport, Barcelona’s football director, Deco, was “not amused” by Diniz’s choice to leave Vitor Roque out of his last team. Deco, who was born in Brazil, elected to represent Portugal at the international level, which needs a certain amount of audacity.
