BREAKING: Leeds united boss Daniel Farke has express his dissatisfaction with the officiating against his team as he appeal Joe Rodon red card at Hull City after ‘not even a foul’ claim? FA law explained

Rodon’s caution in the first half was ‘not even a foul’ in the German’s opinion, therefore he thought his centre-back’s dismissal in the second half was excessive. Rodon received his second yellow card and subsequent red card after lunging into a challenge near midway. Leeds went on to draw the game 0-0 after dominating the first half and had numerous chances to go ahead previous to the red card.

“Yes, he is [unlucky to be sent off,” Farke remarked. Let’s be real. If you judge a game, not allowing him to finish feels harsh. It feels harsh when I consider how many technical fouls Cree received. The first half was never a yellow, nor was it a foul; no one can explain how it was a yellow. The duel in the second half requires you to be a little more strategic in your approach. That’s where we have to be a little more critical of ourselves; it affected the momentum of the game.”

Hull manager Liam Rosenior suggested that Rodon’s second yellow card should have been a straight red.
“I haven’t seen the challenge back, but I’ve been told it’s a clear yellow, which could have been a red in and of itself,” he explained.

“I’m not saying it was because I haven’t seen it back yet, but if you’ve already been booked, you can’t make a challenge like that.”

Replays suggest that referee Stephen Martin’s decision to send Rodon his first yellow card was harsh, but the FA laws cannot help Leeds United in these circumstances because clubs may only file a wrongful dismissal suit.

For a straight red card, dismissal to a regulatory commission. Similarly, clubs can seek to minimize a suspension by arguing plainly excessive penalty, but only if a player receives a straight red.
The only way for a club to reverse a yellow card through the FA’s disciplinary process is if they feel another player committed the offense that resulted in a caution or dismissal. This obviously does not applicable in Rodon’s case.

Rodon will miss Leeds’ encounter against Watford at Elland Road on Saturday since all bans are served immediately in the category of match in which they were issued. A second yellow card results in a one-game suspension.

The Welsh international is the club’s first dismissal of the season. His cautions versus Hull bring him equal with Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton on two yellow cards for the season, while Ethan Ampadu has three.
