Chelsea are hopeful of acquiring Brentford attacker Ivan Toney.
The Bees are preparing for the exit of their suspended star player and have set a £60 million asking price for him.
To stave off any competing bidders, Chelsea might make a move for Toney as early as the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.
Toney was permitted to return to training this week after serving the first half of his eight-month suspension for violating FA betting rules.
Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Chelsea, is driving the drive to recruit Toney after making it known to the Stamford Bridge administration that he requires extra firepower.
In their first five Premier League games, Chelsea have scored just five goals.
RAMSDALE WILL NOT BE RUSHED.
Despite being brutally sacked by Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsdale will not rush into a decision about his future at Arsenal.
Ramsdale was benched for Arsenal’s loss at Everton last weekend, making way for Brentford loanee David Raya.
In yet another snub, the England international was not reinstated for the Gunners’ Champions League return against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
Chelsea is keeping an eye on Ramsdale’s situation, although the former Bournemouth and Sheffield United midfielder only signed a new five-year contract at the end of last season.
Ramsdale is said to be comfortable at Arsenal and eager to compete for his place again.
