JUST IN: Guardiola fuming at City Board over delay in transfer as Crystal Palace now in advance talks with with big Man City top target

Crystal Palace are allegedly preparing to begin contract discussions with Eberechi Eze, who has been extensively linked with Manchester City this summer.

The 25-year-old was in excellent form with the Eagles last season, earning him a debut for England in June earlier this year.

Last season, Eze scored 10 goals in all competitions, which drew the attention of Pep Guardiola. He has also appeared in all five Premier League games for Crystal Palace this season, scoring once.

According to TEAMtalk, Man City explored bringing in the attacking midfielder to replace the injured Kevin de Bruyne. It has even been suggested that they made a £60 million bid for him on the day of the deadline.

Tottenham and Arsenal have also been connected with Eze in the past, indicating that there is plenty of competition for his signature.

However, Roy Hodgson is understandably hesitant to move the England international, who is one of Crystal Palace’s most vital players.

As a result, the manager is attempting to bind Eze to new terms in order to keep him when the transfer window reopens in January. The existing arrangement with Eze is valid until 2025.

The Palace will begin negotiations on a new Eze deal.
Crystal Palace are ‘expected’ to initiate ‘first talks’ with Eze over a new deal, according to noted transfer journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.

This is an attempt to keep teams like Manchester City from pursuing him.

The Cityzens signed Matheus Nunes in the summer transfer window, who has basically replaced De Bruyne for the time being, but Guardiola remains a fan of Eze.
As previously said, Eze has had a fantastic start to the season, scoring once in five games thus far, and has also appeared for England in a recent friendly against Scotland.

Crystal Palace’s best hope for keeping their in-form star for the foreseeable future is thus a new contract. Given this, it will be intriguing to see if the London club can reach an agreement with Eze’s entourage.
