Given Olivier Giroud’s age, Milan will need to explore a succession plan sooner rather than later. While the Rossoneri’s hopes this season are on Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic, the Rossoneri’s management is considering making a splash in the future, according to Calciomercato.
Jonathan David is clearly their top choice. Because of his contractual condition and their close relationship with Lille, they feel his current €55/60M valuation will decline.
Milan has a few more choices on their wish list. Roko Simic, the son of former defender Dario, is the most recent recruit. This season, he’s starring for RB Salzburg after loan stints at FC Zurich and FC Liefering.
The 20-year-old has three goals in eight games and 17 caps for Croatia U-21. Last summer, they signed Okafor from the Austrian team.
Furthermore, the Rossoneri are one of many teams interested in Benjamin Sesko. He’s performing despite not being a full-time starter yet. Last summer, he moved between the two Red Bull-owned clubs for €24 million. Given his price tag, he may be headed for the Premier League in the future, but Geoffrey Moncada and co. see him as an excellent target.
Our Opinion on the Milan Attack
While David is undoubtedly more established, Sesko and Simic’s skill set would be more comparable to Giroud’s. In the end, it will all come down to price and competitiveness.
