FALLEN APART: Pep Guardiola wants £150,000-a-week Manchester City player to leave in January

Kalvin Phillips has struggled to make an impact at Manchester City since joining from Leeds United, and it has now been rumoured that manager Pep Guardiola is willing to let the defensive midfielder depart during the January transfer window.

According to Football Transfers, Manchester City are willing to transfer Kalvin Phillips in January.

According to the article, City manager Pep Guardiola actually wants Phillips to depart so that he can bring in a replacement.

Guardiola confirms Kalvin Phillips 'will start' at Newcastle

Kalvin Phillips could be sold by Manchester City in January 2024.

Guardiola was said to be willing to sell Phillips to Fulham during the summer transfer window.

The Cottagers and Citizens were negotiating a deal for Phillips.

Fulham were interested in the former Leeds United player as a possible replacement for Joao Palhinha, who joined Bayern Munich in the final days of the summer transfer season.
Palhinha’s proposed transfer to Bayern Munich fell through in the closing hours, and Phillips remained at City.

According to Football Transfers, while City and Guardiola are ready to unload Phillips, the 27-year-old midfielder did not want to leave during the summer transfer window, and a potential exit in January relies on what he wants to do.

Kalvin Phillips should think about his future with Manchester City.

If Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola no longer likes Kalvin Phillips and does not believe he is good enough for his squad, the England international should seriously ponder his future.

Of course, every footballer wants to be a part of a winning squad.
And City wins a lot.

Last season, the Citizens won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup.

However, it would be a waste for Phillips if he sat on the bench week in and week out and never got to play.

Since joining City from Leeds in the summer of 2022, the midfielder has been a bit part of the team.

Phillips made two starts and ten substitute appearances throughout the season.

The £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) England international has appeared in just 45 minutes of Premier League action this season.
