GUESS WHO: The 21-year-old Midfield enforcer now referred to as “Starboy” by all Tottenham players.

The first-team members of Tottenham Hotspur have all taken to calling rookie midfielder Pape Matar Sarr ‘Starboy’ in practise.

On the Gold & Guest Podcast, journalist Alasdair Gold discussed the Senegalese international.

A big fuss would be made if a 21-year-old rookie made an impression at any other Premier League club.

However, because of the excitement surrounding the entire Spurs team at the moment, Pape Matar Sarr’s performances have received less attention.

Prior to Ange Postecoglou joining Tottenham, the midfielder had only made 14 appearances for the club.

Despite denying him the chance to go on loan, Antonio Conte utilised him extremely rarely last season.

Ange Postecoglou, who eventually arrived, was determined to give everyone member of the team a chance to shine.

Sarr seized the opportunity and has started all but one of the team’s league contests this year.

Naturally, his Spurs teammates have begun to be impressed by his efforts.

And now, Sarr is referred to as “Starboy” by the Tottenham team.

He appears to be the ideal midfield partner for James Maddison and Yves Bissouma, and he has a bright career ahead of him.

Sarr is currently referred to by Tottenham as Starboy.
Gold praised the 21-year-old’s performance against AC Milan, saying: “Pape Matar Sarr was fantastic. Antonio Conte said, “Well, thank you for that. Go over there and stand,” and he did exactly that.

While [Ange] Postecoglou is no longer among us, this young man is going to be a world-beater.

“Like I said, the players at the club refer to him as ‘Starboy’ because they think he will develop into a phenomenal young player.

“I’m very happy with the direction Postecoglou is taking this team in.”

Sarr performed admirably despite losing the ball a few occasions against Arsenal.

With their propensity to switch positions throughout a game, midfielders Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira presented him with a challenging assignment.

Given that Bukayo Saka, a Starboy for Arsenal, scored and assisted on both goals, Sarr’s performance for Tottenham was impressive for entirely different reasons.

Under Postecoglou, he has appeared unconcerned while coming up so swiftly, but he is aware that when Rodrigo Bentancur returns from injury, his position could soon be in jeopardy.
