JUST IN: Barnsley dealt injury blow ahead of Blackpool clash with summer signing ruled out

Kacper Lopata will be out of action for a’short period of time,’ according to Barnsley manager Neill Collins.
Last weekend, Barnsley’s summer signing suffered a shoulder injury against Northampton Town. He then sat out the Tykes’ 3-1 Papa John’s Trophy win over Manchester City Under-21s last night.
Lopata, 22, transferred to Oakwell in June. He signed a four-year contract with the League One club.

Collins told the Barnsley Chronicle, “We’re still waiting for complete confirmation, but it appears to be a shoulder dislocation or break.” Kacper appears to be out for the time being, and we’ll see how long that lasts. He’s been outstanding, a great signing, and someone with a lot of potential.

Barnsley wins!

Barnsley’s absence of Lopata is a setback as they prepare to face Blackpool on Saturday. So far this season, he has seen consistent game time, making 10 appearances across all competitions, nine of which have come in the league.

The former Poland youth international was on Sheffield United’s books from 2020 to 2022 after being signed as a teenager from Brighton and Hove Albion. He went on to make two appearances for the Blades’ first team.

Lopata spent time in non-league with Southend United and Woking before joining Barnsley in the summer. He has since adjusted well to life with his new team, and they are hopeful that he will be able to return.

As Collins mentioned, he is a player with a lot of potential and plenty of time on his side. Conor McCarthy, Jack Shepherd, and Mael de Givegney are among the Tykes players who can fill in for him against the Seasiders.
