“It’s a step forward,” Tykes boss Neil Collins remarked. “But don’t ask me in a week if he’s ready!”

“It’s still very, very early days stages but it’s a positive sign to see him.”

Robbie Cundy was reported to be close to returning to training earlier this month. He hasn’t played due to glute and hip injuries, and he’s had a couple setbacks, but he’s hoping to make his season debut soon.

Kacper Lopata is out after injuring his shoulder last weekend. He did not play for Barnsley in their EFL Trophy triumph over Manchester City’s under-21s, and he is anticipated to be out for the’short term,’ according to his manager.

As previously stated, Devante Cole did not play on Tuesday, with Fabio Jalo and Max Watters taking his place. Cole has nine goals in as many games, and the 29-year-old might team up with Sam Cosgrove, who has been linked with a move away from the club.
