JUST IN: Wrexham boss provides injury Update regarding centre-back pair ahead of Crewe Alexandra clash

Jordan Tunnicliffe and Eogan O’Connell are making good progress in their injury recoveries, according to Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson.
Wrexham are currently without both of their centre-backs. The Red Dragons return to League Two action this weekend, hosting Crewe Alexandra.
Last time out, they were defeated 5-0 against Stockport County. Phil Parkinson’s side will be anxious to avenge their devastating defeat by defeating the Railwaymen.

According to Parkinson, “Hopefully Eoghan will be back in full training by the end of the week while Jordan is building his way back up,” according to the Evening Leader. He’s getting there, but he’s been out for a long time with that back injury, and we’ve got a long way to go.

Wrexham’s most recent injury

Wrexham have conceded far too many goals this season, so having Tunnicliffe and O’Connell back will be a huge boost. They’ve already let up 20 goals in nine games.

Tunnicliffe hasn’t played since his team won the National League earlier this year. In July 2022, he relocated to the Racecourse Ground to give additional competition and depth to the defensive department.

Since then, the former England C international has made 30 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals. He has formerly played for Barnsley, AFC Fylde, and Crawley Town.

O’Connell has played eight games this season, six of which have been league games, and is anticipated to be back in training before the end of the week, which is good news.

He moved down from League One Charlton Athletic to League One Wrexham in January and was instrumental in their promotion. Former Republic of Ireland youth international has previously played for Celtic and Rochdale.
