According to Football Insider, Everton have agreed to appoint Portsmouth recruitment chief Phil Boardman.
The Merseysiders are expanding their scouting squad and have reached an agreement with the seasoned talent scout.
Boardman has agreed to join the Premier League team as a senior European scout.
Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell remembers him from their time together at Wolves.
Thelwell is a new addition to the Toffees’ backroom team, having been hired in February 2022.
The former New York Red Bulls player has been charged with revamping recruitment at Goodison Park following years of mismanagement and poor expenditure that has landed the club in Financial Fair Play difficulties.
He took over as the Toffees’ director of football after Marcel Brands left.
Boardman, who was brought to Portsmouth in 2017 by former Wolves manager Kenny Jackett, has now been drafted in as Everton look to add new players in the January transfer window.
On Friday (29 September), Football Insider stated that Toffees manager Sean Dyche might be granted a substantial transfer budget for the January window if the club’s ownership is approved.
The US-based investment firm 777 Partners has agreed to buy the Merseysiders, but the Premier League, Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority must all approve the deal before it becomes official.
Everton have spent more than £228 million in net spending over the last ten years, but they are still in risk of relegation to the Championship.
Dyche’s side, who avoided relegation on the penultimate day of last season, have collected four points from a possible 18.
