HUGE BLOW: Portsmouth set to lose key figure as Everton agree deal

According to Football Insider, Portsmouth head of recruiting Phil Boardman is expected to join Everton as a senior European scout.
Portsmouth have made significant progress recently, both on and off the field. Both the management and the club hierarchy deserve high praise for the work they put in over the summer to get the squad ready for the new season.
Pompey have begun as well as they could have wished. John Mousinho’s side is unbeaten in League One, with five victories and four draws, and this is partly due to the recruitment work done over the summer to rebuild the roster.

However, it appears that the club is about to lose a vital figure in that.

Report: Key Portsmouth recruitment figure poised to seal move to Everton

According to Football Insider, recruitment chief Phil Boardman is ready to quit Fratton Park for a huge step up with Premier League side Everton. He will work as a top European scout for the Toffees as they expand their recruitment department.

Boardman has been with Portsmouth since 2017, but he appears to be ready for a new challenge.

Leaving for greener pastures

Losing key figures, whether on or off the field, is not uncommon in football, particularly in the EFL. When someone impresses, it doesn’t take long for their effort to be noticed higher up the ladder, and this appears to be the case with Boardman.

It will be a setback for Portsmouth to lose their head of recruitment, especially after what appears to be a very profitable summer. However, Pompey will hopefully have a replacement in mind for the departing chief, whether from within the club or from outside.

On the field, Pompey will attempt to extend their unbeaten league run this weekend when they travel to Wigan Athletic.
