Chelsea are rumoured to be looking for a new left-back ahead of the January transfer window, with the Premier League club interested in a Serie A combination.
Left-back has been a source of contention for Mauricio Pochettino this season, with the Argentine coach benching Ben Chilwell in recent Premier League games. The English star appeared to have a significant role under the new Chelsea manager, and he was given a lot of responsibility in the first few games of the season.
However, the 26-year-old did not start Chelsea’s past two league games against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, raising questions over the left-back position.
Chelsea are keeping an eye on Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez ahead of the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.
From an attacking standpoint, the two full-backs are among the finest in their positions, and either one would be an excellent addition to Pochettino’s side.
However, the Premier League team may struggle to secure their services because they are vital to their present sides’ success and have contracts in Milan until 2026.
Pochettino will almost certainly give Chilwell another chance, but the Blues are considering their options in case things don’t work out.
