Newcastle United will be without a number of key players for Wednesday’s Champions League match against PSG at St James’ Park.
According to the Telegraph, Callum Wilson, Joelinton, and Sven Botman have all been ruled out of the match, joining Harvey Barnes (toe) and Joe Willock (Achilles).
Botman and Wilson both failed fitness tests before of the 2-0 win against Burnley last Saturday. The Dutchman is out with a knee ailment that will likely keep him out until after the international break, while Wilson is out with a tight hamstring that won’t be risked on Wednesday.
Ezoic Joelinton had been out with a knee injury but returned against Manchester City and came on in the second half of Saturday’s triumph over Burnley. However, the Brazilian pulled up with a hamstring injury barely minutes after his appearance.
The degree of his hamstring ailment is unknown – Howe believes it is not serious – but The Telegraph believes it is significant enough to keep him out of the PSG encounter.
As a result, in Wilson’s absence, we’ll have Jamaal Lascelles at the defense, one of Elliot Anderson or Sandro Tonali joining Bruno and Longstaff in midfield, and Alexander Isak up top once more.
