Chelsea continues to be interested in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
This is according to a Calciomercato report.
Chelsea were connected with Mike Maignan in the summer, and according to the Italian site, the Blues still prefer the Frenchman.
The Evening Standard reported in June that Chelsea had considered buying Maignan but were turned off by Milan’s £80 million asking price.
Finally, the team signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Mike Maignan is not a priority right now.
Maignan is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in the world, with former Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud praising him as “unbelievable.”
We doubt that many managers would turn down the opportunity to sign a player of that caliber.
If a possibility presents itself, Chelsea should take it into consideration. But, for the time being, the Blues should focus on recruiting a center-forward rather than another goalkeeper, especially after signing Sanchez.
A new center-forward should be high on their priorities list. Once they’ve sorted that out, they should look into other parts of the squad.
But, having just signed Sanchez, the Spaniard would have to have a pretty awful season for Chelsea to look for another shot-stopper so quickly.
And based on some of Sanchez’s previous performances, So far this season, we don’t believe the former Brighton man will have a horrible campaign.
