AC Milan takes on Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park tonight, looking to earn their first victory in the 2023-24 Champions League group stages.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (shown below), head coach Stefano Pioli will pitch Davide Calabria, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori, and Theo Hernandez as the back four in front of Mike Maignan.
The midfield uncertainty has been resolved with Yunus Musah on the right of the three and Tommaso Pobega as the other box-to-box player, leaving Tijjani Reijnders as the ‘director’ in front of the back four.
Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud, and Rafael Leao, the club’s current first-choice front three, should be retained, with the former returning to the club where he spent four years from 2015 to 2019.
Milan’s probable starting lineup (4-3-3) is as follows: Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Musah, Reijnders, Pobega; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.
Dortmund’s probable starting lineup (4-2-3-1) is as follows: Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Ozcan, Nmecha; Malen, Reus, Brandt; Füllkrug.
