HUGE SETBACK: Portsmouth boss lament on latest double injury set-back – ‘That’s a real blow, to be honest’:

But he has challenged his players to rise up and overcome the absences of Regan Poole and Alex Robertson from Port Vale.

After receiving one-match bans against Wycombe, the two will miss Saturday’s visit of the Valiants.
Poole was suspended after earning his fifth league booking of the season during the second half of Tuesday night’s 2-1 win.
Earlier, Robertson had received his eighth yellow card in 13 games. However, because league matches are competition-specific, five cautions warrant a ban.

And Mousinho will have to go elsewhere in his team to replace two players who have emerged as vital contributors for the League One leaders.

‘That’s a huge blow, to be honest,’ he told The News.

Portsmouth fears over midfielder injury after learning set-back more serious than anticipated

‘Regan’s form has been great all season, and Alex has been outstanding in the last two of games, particularly on Tuesday night, which was a very, very strong effort.

‘But now it’s about who’s up next – we have a squad for that.

‘We must avoid feeling sorry for ourselves. We have suspensions and injuries, so let’s get started, let’s go.

‘We have a big game on Saturday, and people who have been extremely unlucky not to be playing will have to stand up.

‘Having two out is definitely not ideal timing. I can’t paint it any other way than when we had Joe Morrell and Joe Rafferty suspended at the same time.

‘Now we have two more suspended at the same time, two players who have been terrific for us, two guys who have been really big characters and pretty significant players in and around the club, so it hurts us.

‘However, we must move on and pick ourselves up.’

Mousinho had no reservations about Poole’s ban following his yellow card on Tuesday night.
However, he has criticized referee Alan Young’s decision to caution Robertson when he believes the loanee should have been penalized.

‘Regan’s yellow card I can take, I have no problem with that, I believed it was a yellow,’ he continued.

‘Alex’s utterly perplexes me; I assumed it was a penalty. You can’t book him for a free-kick if you’re going to give him anything.

‘He has eyes on the ball, he comes it down and gets fully taken out – and somehow receives a booking. That doesn’t make me happy since it’s one of those yellows that is just ludicrous.

‘Alex has been booked for a few petulant ones, which I can totally understand, but he’ll have to learn not to because he’s now suspended for Saturday.’
