Manchester City will be without John Stones against Arsenal after Pep Guardiola ruled the defender out of the crucial Premier League match.
Stones hasn’t played for the Blues since the Community Shield in August owing to a variety of injuries, but he’s returned to training this week to establish his health. The England defender was named to the bench for the Champions League game against RB Leipzig, as well as Gareth Southgate’s roster for the next national team fixtures.
Guardiola, though, stated that the centre-back will not be fit to play against Arsenal, even if he is later cleared to play for his country. Already missing Kevin De Bruyne due to injury and Rodri due to suspension,
City will need to find another midfield alternative.
“We started talking today with my staff about analyzing tomorrow morning, because we have to prepare for the game.” Rodri is one of the greatest – if not the best – holding midfielders in the world, therefore it is natural. If he is unable to play, we always address it over a long period of time.
“We find a solution with our players, the way we are going to press and what they can do.”
