Barnsley manager Neill Collins has confirmed that Adam Phillips will be available this weekend.
Barnsley return to League One action on Saturday when they travel to Exeter City. They will be seeking to capitalize on their recent 4-0 victory over Cambridge United.
Phillips, 25, has been out with an injury for the past few games. He is expected to return on Saturday.
According to the official club website, Collins has supplied this optimistic update: “Adam Phillips will be back in for selection.” Once again, bad timing. I believe we missed him against Blackpool, despite having him as an option. It’s nice to have him back as an option this weekend.”
Barnsley’s selection improves
The return of Phillips is a significant boost for Barnsley as they attempt to secure another victory against Exeter. In the middle of the park, he adds additional competitiveness and depth to their options.
After a good start to the new season, the Tykes are now fourth in the third tier table. They have 19 points already and are five points behind the top two.
Phillips, who joined the Yorkshire club from Burnley in September last year, is an important player in midfield.
To date, the former England youth international has made 51 appearances in all competitions, contributing 10 assists and eight assists. Last season, he assisted his present side in reaching the play-off final, however he was sent off in the final against Sheffield Wednesday.
Phillips has previously been on the books at Norwich City and Liverpool, but has finally found a home at Barnsley.
In the meanwhile, he is under contract with Oakwell until June 2026, and he hopes to help them earn promotion to the Championship.
