Mansfield Town’s Rhys Oates and Stephen McLaughlin are set to miss the rest of the season due to injuries, according to the club’s official website.
This weekend sees the return of Mansfield Town to League Two action. They face AFC Wimbledon in an attempt to maintain their good record.
For the time being, the Stags will have to do without Oates and McLaughlin. Both players are out with ankle and knee problems, respectively.
According to the club’s website, they are ‘expected’ to remain in the treatment room until November. In other news, Stephen Quinn and Elliott Hewitt have been ruled out for longer lengths of time, while Alfie Kilgour’s season is over.
Mansfield’s most recent injury
Mansfield have made an impressive start to the new season, rising to seventh in the table. They haven’t lost in their first 11 games.
Clough’s team has drawn seven games and will be hoping to convert those draws into victories in the coming weeks. Last time out, Nottinghamshire drew 0-0 at home to Wrexham.
As they prepare for their match on Saturday, they are only one point behind Wimbledon in second place. The Dons trail league leaders Notts County by three points.
Oates, 28, joined Mansfield Town from Hartlepool United in 2021 and has been a crucial player ever since. He has appeared in 81 games in all competitions, contributing 20 goals and 10 assists.
Having him back this winter will be a huge boost because he adds quality to their attacking department.
McLaughlin brings experience to the ranks, having played over 400 games in his career. The Irishman, who joined the Stags in 2020, has previously played for Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, and Southend United.
