Tactical change: Double attacking switch on the cards for Daniel Farke as Leeds United sweat over fitness of key star

Leeds United may be missing winger Jaidon Anthony this afternoon against Bristol City after rolling his ankle against QPR earlier in the week.

Leeds are approaching another international break, which could be good news for a few injured players at Thorp Arch.

Before that, there’s a home game against Bristol City this afternoon, and Daniel Farke has problems in more than one position.

Is Jaidon Anthony a good fit?
On Wednesday night, the winger made his first start of the season in Leeds colours, and despite little in the way of clear-cut chances or chance generation, he had a good outing.

However, at his pre-match press conference today, Daniel Farke confirmed that the winger rolled his ankle and is now “50/50” for the encounter, pending further assessment before tomorrow’s clash:
How does Farke alter the configuration?
In such a case, Anthony might be rested, knowing that we have the depth to start Championship-caliber wingers even if Anthony and Willy Gnonto are both sidelined.

It means that Dan James will almost certainly replace Anthony if he is unable to start, and that Crysencio Summerville’s role will likely change.

Putting James on the right flank, where his right foot is far more dangerous by throwing in out-swinging crosses, could be a good option for Leeds, allowing Crysencio Summerville’s trickery and playmaking to shift to the left, where he can cut inside or run to the byline.

Full-back assistance is essential for both, and perhaps a switch for left and right-back duties is required, with the right-back (most likely Luke Ayling) inverting to ensure he isn’t caught out on the wing, allowing Sam Byram on the left to overlap Summerville and generate overloads.
