JUST IN: Brentford face serious competition from Burnley over sensational Striker even after agreeing January transfer deal

This comes after Football Insider reported that Brentford and Burnley are both interested in the 22-year-old.

How has Clarke performed so far at Sunderland?
Clarke joined Sunderland on loan from Tottenham in the January 2022 transfer window, and during his first few months at the Stadium of Light, he helped the team gain promotion from League One to the Championship.

The winger then signed a permanent deal with Sunderland in the summer of 2022, and he was instrumental in the team reaching the Championship play-offs last season, where they narrowly missed out on promotion after losing to Luton Town in the semi-finals.

Clarke, on the other hand, has been a key figure for Sunderland in their excellent start to the season.

In total, the winger has 19 goals and 16 assists in 82 games with the Black Cats in all competitions.

As we approach the January transfer window, that form appears to be generating a good amount of interest in the 22-year-old.

Who is looking to sign Clarke in January?
According to the most recent Football Insider post, both Brentford and Burnley are interested in the winger.

Following their promotion from the Championship at the end of last season, Burnley are understood to have had a deal for Clarke for just over £10 million rejected in the summer.

The Clarets, on the other hand, are claimed to have kept eyes on the winger and have been impressed by his form so far this season.

As a result, Sunderland are reportedly bracing themselves for Clarke interest when the market reopens at the end of the year, with Brentford also interested in the 22-year-old.

The Black Cats, though, are said to be desperate to keep the winger due to his importance to Tony Mowbray’s team.

Clarke’s contract with Sunderland has three years left on it, safeguarding his future at the Stadium of Light until the end of the 2025/26 season, putting the club in a strong position to negotiate any bids that come in for him.
Sunderland’s position in the Championship table is shown below.

After impressing in the Championship over the past year or so, it appears the winger may soon be ready to make the move to the Premier League.

Indeed, you get the impression he’ll only grow better with time, thus at 22 years old, he could be a valuable asset in the future.

Interest in the future would make this a coup for whoever signs him, so expect a struggle for his services when the window opens at the end of the year.
