THE VERDICT: Kyle Walker receives fate from the FA following post-Arsenal defeat incident

Kyle Walker, Manchester City’s vice captain, has learned his fate from the Football Association following a post-match altercation at the Emirates Stadium.

The Premier League champions suffered their third successive domestic setback at the weekend, as a late Gabriel Martinelli strike deflected off Nathan Ake’s face saw Manchester City lose 1-0 and drop to third in the rankings.

In a game tainted by refereeing controversy but lacking in end-to-end drama, one of the big talking points occurred off the field and after the game, when Kyle Walker became entangled in an altercation with an Arsenal backroom staff member.

Mikel Arteta’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover – previously of Manchester City – appeared to approach Walker for a post-match handshake as the England international made his way to the tunnel, a gesture that the full-back vehemently rebuffed.

Arsenal security personnel got involved in the altercation and hurried Kyle Walker into the Emirates Stadium tunnel, alongside Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, who also got involved in an attempt to remove Walker from the situation.

According to the BBC’s Simon Stone, the Football Association (FA) will take no action in relation to the post-match altercation involving Kyle Walker and an Arsenal coaching staff member at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Walker will not face any more sanctions or punishment at a time when Manchester City is only about to welcome back defensive midfield mainstay Rodri from a three-match suspension.

Following a red card against Nottingham Forest last month, the Spain international missed matches against Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Arsenal — three games that Manchester City lost.

Kyle Walker will now join the England international squad this week in preparation for an international friendly and a UEFA European Championship qualifier against Gareth Southgate’s side.
