DEAL AGREED: Portsmouth have agreed a deal for former Arsenal winger who is a free agent – Player have been spotted training with Blues

Since the end of September, the former Arsenal and Norwich winger has been training with the Blues.

The 22-year-old is currently residing in the area with his girlfriend, who is from Warblington, after leaving Carrow Road in the summer.
As a result, he approached Pompey and requested to practice with the League One leaders.
Mousinho is reaching a decision on Martin’s future after more than a fortnight with the Blues.

‘Josh trained with us again on Tuesday,’ he told The News. We wanted to get the Gillingham game out of the way because we have a natural break coming up and will see where things stand.

Who is MK Dons' latest signing Josh Martin?

‘We have another training session this morning in which he will participate, and then we’ll take it from there.’We’re not ruling anything out at the moment, but the same message applies to the squad, where we are, and if we’re trying to add to it.

‘At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be a dire need to add to the squad, though that’s not to say we’re entirely discounting Josh.’

Pompey are out of action this weekend due to four players being called up for international service.

They will instead be given four days off beginning Thursday, before returning on Monday to prepare for Carlisle’s League One visit (October 21).

Meanwhile, Martin will be hopeful that he has done enough to keep his place with the Blues.

John Mousinho pinpoints the toughest decision among Portsmouth's 13 out-of-contract players

‘Why Josh hasn’t got a club is a pretty interesting one and hard for us to tell,’ Mousinho added.

‘When a free agent like that is still available in October, you have to attempt to look at the conditions.

‘However, he has demonstrated that he is a quality player at this level, and I’m confident he will be able to get back on the horse wherever that may be.

‘It’s difficult for us to evaluate because he’s been good when he’s trained with us.’
