DONE DEAL: PSG-linked sporting director set to follow Club new Manager as reveal by James Bisgrove after an emergency board meeting

Rangers are apparently considering a move for former AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement, as well as former AS Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell.

According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers are considering a move for the former EFL footballer, who has been connected with senior posts at PSG and Manchester United.

After working with Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and even RB Leipzig, Rangers would consider hiring Paul Mitchell as sporting director or director of football to be a significant coup.

The allegation that Rangers have made Philippe Clement their main managerial target following the resignation of Michael Beale strengthens the link.

Rangers next manager odds: Philippe Clement heavily odds-on to be appointed

The Belgian coach was successful in the country’s Pro League with both KRC Genk and Club Brugge before being fired by AS Monaco in the summer after a year in command.
Rangers will rejoin Paul Mitchell and Philippe Clement.
Four months before Philippe Clement’s departure, Paul Mitchell revealed his intention to leave AS Monaco, which he did at the end of last season, and the two are now set to reunite at Rangers.

Paul Mitchell stated back then that he wanted to return to the UK for family reasons, and being headquartered in Scotland may have appealed to the sporting director, who also had Premier League ambitions.

Paul Mitchell to leave Monaco sporting director role

Both sides are also highly familiar with one another, with Paul Mitchell having been interviewed by Rangers in 2017 before the club decided to go with ex-Manchester City man Mark Allen instead.

The skilled recruitment genius has had significant success with the Saints and Spurs in the Premier League, as well as RB Leipzig in Germany and AS Monaco in France.

The Rangers board has come under fire for failing to hire a suitable director of football this season and instead giving Michael Beale control of recruitment.

Rangers may now go on to capture a highly known European manager with a successful track record in Philippe Clement, but adding a talented sports director in Paul Mitchell to the package would be quite the statement.
