OFFICIAL: AC Milan Maignan discovers extent of punishment for red card against Genoa after Lega Serie A intervention

Following his red card against Genoa on Matchday 8, AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan will only be punished for one game in Serie A.

According to Lega Serie A, the French goalie will not face a three-match ban, as some had feared, and will simply miss the game against Juventus following the international break.

He’ll be back in goal against Napoli the following week, if no fitness issues arise between now and then.

Maignan was issued a straight red card against Genoa, and with Milan having used all of their substitutes, Olivier Giroud had to step in, and he produced a crucial stop to maintain the score at 1-0.

Milan must now face Juventus at San Siro with Marco Sportiello in goal. It was also reported that Theo Hernandez has received a one-match suspension for accumulating yellow cards.
