UNHAPPY DECISION: Man City Management unhappy with Erling Haaland’s contract and are set to make crucial decision

Man City’s recent choice to sign Erling Haaland as their main striker was one of their best.

Though Pep Guardiola was used to playing with large front players – Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Barcelona and Robert Lewandowski at Bayern – he hadn’t done so at City before, so the experiment was bound to be interesting.

After just over a season, it’s safe to say it’s a move that has already paid off handsomely, and whether or not Guardiola extends his stay until 2025, the Norwegian striker must become a staple at the Etihad Stadium.

To that end, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the club is unhappy with the release clause, which will diminish year on year starting next summer, and are planning to extend Haaland’s contract for another year – until 2028 – in order to keep the centre-forward out of the clutches of Barcelona and Real Madrid. In the process, they will also eliminate the provision.

From the perspective of the players, he is at the ideal club to achieve all of his goals.

Last season, City won the treble with ease, and despite losing their last two Premier League games, they remain the side to beat both domestically and in Europe.

With the current squad iteration, Haaland can’t be served from either wing, which makes his striking play a breeze, especially when you consider his own strength and movement in crucial situations.
