According to a recent report in The Daily Mail, Brentford striker Ivan Toney wants to join Arsenal next year. The English attacker is said to be interested in a move to Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta looking to boost his attack next season.
Toney’s Premier League form has been outstanding. Previous Season
Toney enjoyed a fantastic season at the Gtech Community Stadium last season, putting in multiple match-winning performances as the focal point of Brentford’s assault. In the previous season, the Northampton-born star scored 21 goals and provided five assists in 35 matches for the Bees across all competitions.
The 27-year-old performed admirably in Premier League games, averaging 2.8 shots, 0.8 critical passes, and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes. However, based on his pass success rate of 62% in the top flight of English football (numbers through whoscored), he needs to find a method to enhance his link-up play up top.
His current deal with Brentford expires in the summer of 2025. He is currently suspended via sports court – cross competition until January 27, 2024.
Should Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s head coach, take over for Toney?
Toney’s shot attempts have a lot of strength, and he’s shown to be a solid finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. In the final third, he can even create chances for his teammates, but he must time his runs well in behind the opposing backline. Additionally, the English star must find a method to enhance his ball distribution up top.
Standing at 1.85m, the Brentford centre-forward can use his muscular body to help his team maintain possession.
Toney is far from a finished product, but he is a natural finisher, which the Gunners urgently need right now. We can anticipate him adding firepower to Mikel Arteta’s frontline.
Toney, 27, is set to hit his peak and is capable of having an immediate impact at the North London club if Arteta can bring him on board next year.
All things considered, Arteta would be prudent to sign Toney since he can help Arsenal compete on all fronts in the next seasons.
