Kalvin Phillips’ move to Manchester City last summer did not work out, and the pair have made a major decision on how to go.
Since joining City from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, the midfielder has played just 760 minutes, and the Englishman is low down the pecking order at the Etihad.
With the Euros taking place in Germany next summer, the 27-year-old will require regular first-team action to join Gareth Southgate’s squad and may look for a move in January.
According to Football Insider, Phillips and Man City now consider a departure as the best option moving ahead, which is a big choice for the midfielder.
Due to Kevin de Bruyne’s injury on the first day of the Premier League season and the transfer of Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona, Manchester City did not allow Phillips to leave this summer.
However, with the addition of Matheus Nunes, things have changed, allowing the former Leeds star to seek a transfer elsewhere.
