BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal prioritising to sign £70m Wolves star in January over Toney – Arteta is a big ‘admirer’

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are going to step up their efforts to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto in January.

Following the bolstering of other positions during the summer window, the Gunners are hoping to enhance the attack in the winter. Mikel Arteta is rumored to want to buy a new winger to complement Bukayo Saka, and the Spanish manager is also interested in signing a new center-forward.

Several players have been connected with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Neto being listed as the major target to bolster the flanks, while Ivan Toney appears to be their top centre-forward option.

However, after spending over £200 million last summer, Arsenal’s January budget is currently limited, according to Football Transfers. Unless Arteta decides to make a significant sale, funds are unlikely to be available for more than one marquee signing.

According to the report, if only one acquisition can be done this winter, Arteta prefers Neto to Toney because the Spanish manager wants to add depth to the right flank position and is a long-term ‘admirer’ of the Wolves player.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal values Neto at roughly £40 million, but Wolves will not let their star player leave for less than £70 million. As a result, the Gunners will have to break the bank in order to get the Portuguese’s services.

Wolves are in a strong position to demand a large price if they are forced to cash-in on the forward, who still has four years left on his current contract.

After recuperating from injury troubles, the 23-year-old has returned to his best this season. He has established himself as a talismanic figure for the Wolves this season and has just gained a place in the Portugal first-team squad.

Neto is an exceedingly skilled player with the potential to develop into a top-tier winger in the future. So, if Arsenal is able to sign him next year, it will be a huge coup for them.

However, it will be interesting to see if the North London club can eventually gain his signature in the forthcoming transfer window to strengthen their frontline.
