DEAL AGREED: ‘I have agreed’- Manchester City star has breaks silence on future amid Everton transfer proposal

Kalvin Phillips has confessed that he is considering his options ahead of the January transfer window.

The midfielder is on the outskirts of Manchester City after joining from Leeds United for up to £45 million in the summer of 2022. Phillips has only made 26 appearances for City, five of which have come this season. Despite Rodri’s suspension, Etihad manager Pep Guardiola has put 18-year-old Rico Lewis in the engine room for the 1-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Despite his paucity of playing time, Phillips has preserved his place in the England team. He kicked off Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over Italy, ensuring the Three Lions’ qualification for the 2024 European Championships.

Given his lack of opportunities at the Premier League champions, Phillips has been linked with a move away when the transfer window opens in two and a half months. Everton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Bayern Munich have all expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old.

Phillips admitted after Italy’s victory that he has spoken with Gareth Southgate and that he needs to be playing consistently if he is to play a significant role for England at the Euros.

He told the BBC, “I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend.”Over the next few months, I’ll have to make a decision about [my future]. He [Gareth Southgate] just states that in order for me to keep my spot, I must play games. That’s exactly what I intend to accomplish. On this, I agree with Gareth.

“I want to play football and play as much as I can.” I haven’t been able to do it for the last year and a half owing to injuries and [other issues]. It’s something I’ll have to think about. Hopefully, my opportunity will come, but if it does not, I will have to make other alternatives.”
