Wests Tigers forward James Roumanos has revealed his desired destination for a move away from the club.
This season, the Lebanon international has struggled to break into the Tigers’ first-grade squad, spending all of his time in the NSW Cup with the Western Suburbs Magpies, Wests Tigers’ feeder club.
Roumanos rose through the ranks at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs before making his NRL debut last year, coming off the bench for the Manly Sea Eagles against his previous club in a 21-20 loss.
While he hasn’t had much success in his club career, he did manage to play all four games for Lebanon in last year’s Rugby League World Cup. Here, he’d get to play alongside and learn from players like Mitchell Moses and Adam Doueihi.
According to League Express, Roumanos is desperate to leave the Wests Tigers and has identified Castleford Tigers as his ultimate destination in the Super League.
This isn’t the first time the forward has been connected with a transfer away from the Wests Tigers, with Leigh Leopards, Warrington Wolves, St Helens RLFC, and Salford Red Devils all showing interest.
However, before he can join the Castleford Tigers, the Super League club must release one of the following players: Nixon Putt, Sylvester Namo, Elie El-Zakhem, Charbel Tasipale, Liam Horne, Jacob Miller, or Albert Vete.
“I would absolutely consider moving to the Super League.” “It would be an incredible challenge and experience,” Roumanos said earlier this season to League Express.
“I had a great time in England for the World Cup because I got to experience the UK culture.” I would absolutely like to do that again.
“I think being out of contract does weigh on players’ minds, but you try to just focus on playing well and hope everything else looks after itself.”
