Why Giants’ most recent roster change is bad news for Daniel Jones’ chances against the Commanders.

In advance of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders, the New York Giants have promoted quarterback Tommy DeVito off their practice squad, according to NJ.com’s Bob Brookover.

Daniel Jones, who was listed as questionable due to a neck injury sustained in the Giants’ defeat to the Miami Dolphins, now seems unlikely to play after the Giants elevated Tommy DeVito. When the Giants faced the Buffalo Bills last week and Tyrod Taylor started the game, they employed the same strategy.

If Daniel Jones is unable to play, it appears that Tyrod Taylor will once again get the start for the Giants. Jones did not practice before to the Bills game and was declared ineligible on the Friday before the game. Jones worked out this week on Wednesday and Thursday but wasn’t allowed to make contact. The biggest step in Jones’ recuperation from the subsequent injury is that.

Jones has said that this is not the same injury, and head coach Brian Daboll said that his season is still in play. This is not Jones’ first neck injury in his career; the one he sustained in 2021 while playing against the Philadelphia Eagles ended his season.
