JUST IN: Bantams caretaker boss issues injury update on Oliver and Pattison ahead of Southampton clash

Kevin McDonald stated that the huge attacker is on his way back from knee surgery and is doing well.

“He found it difficult, as you might expect,” stated the caretaker supervisor. “However, V trained exceptionally well for his first session back.”

“I’m not sure how long he’ll be here, but getting through it was a step in the right direction.”

“I’m sure he’ll be tired tomorrow, but he did fine.” He’s certainly upset with some aspects of his training, but he has nothing to be disappointed about.

“He will be back soon enough and that can only be a positive for the team.”

Alex Pattison is making cautious progress after sustaining his second hamstring injury since joining the club.

“Patto is still a few weeks away,” McDonald remarked. “It wasn’t a re-injury, but it was in the same general area.”

“You have to take your time with that because Patto was critical for us at the start of the season.”

“We’ve missed him, but the physios and fitness coaches are taking precautions.”

“It’s disappointing for him, and knowing Patto, he was eager to return to the pitch.”

“It probably cost him and us, but that’s not his fault.” He desires to play football.

“No one wants to be in the treatment room and hopefully he’ll be back soon and continue in the same form as he did before.”

City suffered no new injuries in Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat at MK Dons, their first defeat in five games under McDonald’s interim command.

But he is sure of a fast response this weekend against bottom club Sutton.

“With no disrespect to Sutton, we have to go there and try to win.” We’re attempting to advance in our careers.

“For whatever reason, they are at the bottom of the league and fighting for their lives.”

“However, their league position is irrelevant because if we don’t do it correctly, you’re in big trouble right away.”

“We need to get back to where we were against Wrexham and other teams and take the game to them.”

“I firmly believe if we do that we’ll win the game but you have to earn the right to play.”
