Why Mkel Arteta call for more substitution in the Premier League

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has requested that the Premier League take into consideration extending team rosters beyond the current 25-man cap in light of the injuries sustained recently by important players Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey.

The Premier League should think about expanding their usual 25-man rosters or allowing the use of up to 10 substitutes, according to Mikel Arteta’s proposal.

Following the injuries to important players Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus, who are both anticipated to miss several weeks of action, this recommendation has been made.

Jesus was hurt during Arsenal’s most recent Champions League victory over Sevilla, and Partey had a thigh issue during warm-ups before the game.

current news and updates on Arsenal’s injuries
Prior to Arsenal’s Premier League home thrashing of Sheffield United, Arteta gave an update on the injuries, stating: “[Partey] has a muscle injury and we expect him to be out for weeks.

He has more tests today, so we still don’t know the full extent of it. During the final ball kick during training, he sustained that injury. Very regrettable. Once more, the scans reveal that Jesus has a muscle injury.

We could be missing him for a few weeks at a time. I am unable to provide you with a time frame for Gabi because he constantly surprises us.

“He felt something there, and he acted really strangely.” It’s true that he played with us and the national team in those games, which is something he hasn’t done in a very long time. He also carried a heavy load. That is truly unfortunate news for us.

He continued by going into further detail about what he believed needed to change in the Premier League in light of the players’ ever-increasing expectation to play in both domestic and international games.

“We have to do that [increase the 25-man squad size] or instead of five subs, we have ten if we have more games, more competitiveness, and physically the standards are higher — by playing more minutes,” Arteta stated.

“The five subs are now typical, but moving from three to five was quite the fight. I can’t even begin to imagine how tough it would be to play the game in the circumstances we have now—without five substitutes—after last year’s World Cup.

“There is no doubt that we would have to consider maintaining the quality if the calendar extended.

“Players must choose and have a specific availability in order to complete the task. It concerns everyone.

“How long will it take for us to make the right decisions, and when will this stop? Laws will change, and it’s likely that our ability to act during games will too.

“We will undoubtedly need to adjust.”
