In the Cincinnati Bengals’ 31-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the team made several clutch plays. From big first-down gains to defensive turnovers, the stars on both sides of the ball were ready when their numbers were called.
Do you have any idea who else was prepared? Ted Karras is an actor.
Karras found himself with the football in his hands and nothing but green grass in front of him early in the fourth quarter. Karras was living the offensive lineman’s dream as he scooped up the ball and took off… until he wasn’t.
Unfortunately, the play was (incorrectly) blown head by the officials, leaving Karras with the question “What if?”
Would a 49ers defender have intercepted Karras? It’s possible, but there’s no way to prove that Karras wouldn’t have made the moves and found pay dirt.
After the game, Karras and Ja’Marr Chase had some fun with the gift that is next-gen stats, clocking how fast Karras was moving on the play.
Karras had a good time with it, but it looks like that was a live ball, and Karras was denied his chance at glory. It not only cost the Bengals points, but it also cost them what would have been an exciting game.
