On Tuesday, it was revealed that Jorge Soler and the Braves are being sued by a fan who was hit in the face with a ball thrown into the bleachers in 2021.
The incident happened during Game 3 of the World Series. Mayra Norris is the defendant. She was hit in the face with a ball thrown by Soler before to the fifth inning, incurring many facial fractures and other injuries.
“Defendant Soler did not softly toss the ball into the stands to the crowd,” according to the lawsuit, as reported by The Atlanta Journal Constitution. “He threw the ball overhand with great force and speed.”
Defendant Soler launched the ball with such power and speed that it struck Ms. Norris in the right eye, causing severe and painful injuries.”
It’s a terrible situation for everyone involved.
Nobody wants to see someone critically wounded at a game where everyone should be enjoying themselves, especially during the World Series. At the same time, I doubt Soler intended anything, and supporters are expected to stay aware at all times throughout the game, particularly in places near the field of play where balls are continually entering the bleachers via foul balls or from the players themselves.
