The Los Angeles Rams have promoted running back Darrell Henderson from the practice squad to the active roster after he appeared in the team’s last two games. Henderson was added to the practice squad as part of a flurry of running back transactions following the injuries to Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers in the same game.
Henderson had spent the previous four seasons with the Rams but was not re-signed to start the 2023 season. In times of crisis, however, L.A. went to a familiar face and got quick benefits. Henderson carried for 61 yards and a touchdown in his return game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last week, he recorded 85 all-purpose yards against the Dallas Cowboys.
He now enters the active roster as the Rams look to snap a two-game losing streak against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. in Wisconsin. PT. Henderson, Royce Freeman, and Myles Gaskin lead the Rams’ depth chart until Williams and Rivers are ready to return.
Both will be ineligible to return to the field until at least Week 12, as they must miss four games, not including the team’s Week 10 bye. The Rams (3-5) really need their starters back, but Henderson is a capable fill-in who understands the offense better than anybody else in the NFL.
Before Rivers and Williams are eligible to return, the Rams face the Packers in Week 9 and the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11. If the Rams can win two of those games, they’ll be back at.500 for the rest of the regular season, placing them in playoff contention.
Dresser Winn has been added to the Rams’ practice squad.
Dresser Winn, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, has been added to their practice squad.
Matthew Stafford suffered a UCL sprain in his right thumb and was unable to finish the game, in addition to a terrible loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Stafford seemed to injure his thumb after striking a player’s helmet, and then aggravate it after collecting a pass on the next play.
Dresser has been added to the Los Angeles practice squad as a third quarterback.
Winn attended training camp with the Rams, so his return makes sense given his familiarity with the scheme. When Stafford injured his thumb, Brett Rypien took over as starter, and he will most likely be the starting if Stafford is unable to play in Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.
Stafford’s health has been a source of concern since his arrival in 2021, and it looks that the organization is ready for the likelihood that he could miss this week and possibly beyond.
