DEAL AGREED: Everton open talks with Tottenham over sensetional star as release clause already met.

According to Sean Dyche, Everton have initiated contact with Tottenham to discuss a compromise regarding Dele Alli’s move to Goodison Park. The midfielder left north London under a complicated free transfer agreement, with the Toffees required to pay large fees if certain conditions were met

Spurs will receive the first £10 million if Alli makes 20 appearances for Everton. The 27-year-old has only made 13 appearances in nearly two years on Merseyside, but given the club’s dire financial situation, he may be avoided.

Dyche does not have that problem right now, as Alli is still several weeks away from being match fit. The former Milton Keynes Dons youth prospect has been out of action since March due to a muscle tear, and he spent six weeks in rehab for addiction issues during that time.

At his best, Alli would be a huge asset for Everton as they attempt to avoid relegation from the Premier League for the second consecutive season.

As a result, Dyche confirmed that preliminary talks have already begun between the Toffees and Spurs in order to find a solution. “[Director of Football] Kev [Thelwell] has received a couple of phone calls in the background, [asking Tottenham] where you see it? But nothing has changed as of yet,” he explained.

“I must state unequivocally that he is on the grass, but he is still a long way from being fit; he is not training with us, but with the sports science staff.” He’s just getting back to his old self.
