The Cleveland Browns made a roster change ahead of Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, activating one of their new offensive weapons.
Wide receiver James Proche II has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game.
Proche was signed to the Browns practice squad at the trade deadline on Tuesday, one of numerous players added to the team.
Proche was originally drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens in his fourth season out of SMU. Proche made his NFL debut in the 2020 season opening against the Browns. Proche has appeared in 43 games in his career, catching 25 catches on 40 targets for 278 yards.
Proche has been working out with the Browns all week and is now on the active list for Sunday’s game.
Proche wore No. 15 on his first day with the Browns, but once wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones was dealt to the Detroit Lions and the number became available, he switched to No. 11.
The game between the Browns and Cardinals kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday inside Cleveland Browns Stadium, where Deshaun Watson will start as quarterback after a week of increased reps as he recovers from a shoulder ailment that has plagued him for the past six weeks.
