DONE DEAL:  Two-time  Eagles flag great and ex-Crows coach appointed as new west Eagles  CEO

DON PYKE, a two-time West Coast premiership player and former Adelaide senior coach, has been named the Eagles’ new CEO.

Pyke has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach under John Longmire at Sydney, but he will return to Western Australia to take over as head coach at West Coast from long-time club manager Trevor Nisbett.

“I am excited to be returning home to a club I love in the West Coast Eagles where I have such wonderful memories and am proud and honoured to be given the responsibility to lead the club forward,” Pyke said in a statement.

“This is a critical time for our club, our people, and our supporters to pursue excellence and achieve success once more.” I am looking forward to working with everyone across the organization as we prepare for the 2024 season.”

Pyke played 132 games with the Eagles from 1989 to 1996, including premierships in 1992 and 1994.

He then began a coaching career, first as a strategy coach at the Eagles, followed by a brief time as an assistant coach at Adelaide under Neil Craig.

The board was overjoyed to welcome Pyke, according to Eagles chair Paul Fitzpatrick.

“We are delighted to welcome Don back to his spiritual home at West Coast,” he told reporters.
“Don’s football resume is impressive, having served as a senior coach, player, and board director at our club.” He has also held several significant corporate leadership positions.

“His unique experience provides him with unrivaled knowledge of all aspects of the club’s operations, both on and off the field.”

“However, it is his knowledge of football operations that we know will prove invaluable as the club builds on its strong foundations to once again experience on-field success.”
