FALCONS SWAP LINEBACKERS ON NOV 7 According to a release, the Atlanta Falcons signed linebacker Andre Smith Jr. and waived linebacker Tae Davis.
Smith Jr. has spent most of the season on Atlanta’s practice squad, but he has appeared in three games, playing 51 special teams snaps and three defensive snaps. This season, the six-year veteran has one tackle.
Davis has appeared in every game except one, in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans, when he was sidelined with a concussion. He has played 83 percent of Atlanta’s special teams snaps but only one defensive snap.
The Falcons have just three inside linebackers on their roster, with Kaden Elliss and Nate Landman starting.
Smith Jr. will take over as the team’s lead backup and special teams ace beginning Sunday at 4:05 p.m. EST against the Arizona Cardinals.
CARDINALS MAY BEGIN MURRAY VS. FALCONS ON NOV 6 Kyler Murray, who missed the entire season last year due to a torn ACL, will start at quarterback against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday “if all goes well” in practice, according to Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon.
Murray will work out with Arizona’s starters in practice, according to Gannon, and if he is physically capable of playing, he will.
In the Cardinals’ 27-0 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, fifth-round rookie Clayton Tune started at quarterback. Josh Dobbs, who beat the Falcons as the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback, started the first eight games in Arizona.
With Murray back in the mix, Atlanta’s life becomes more difficult – and the stakes are only rising as Sunday’s 4:05 p.m. EST kickoff approaches.
FALCONS INJURY REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 1 The Falcons will prepare for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with a healthy Desmond Ridder, who was a full participant on Wednesday after exiting the 28-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans due to entering the concussion protocol.

FALCONS INJURY REPORT FOR NOV 1 The Falcons will prepare for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with a healthy Desmond Ridder, who, after exiting the 28-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans due to entering the concussion protocol, has since been cleared and was a full participant on Wednesday.
Despite Ridder’s successful completion of the concussion protocol, coach Arthur Smith announced earlier Wednesday that Taylor Heinicke will be the new starting quarterback.
Injuries also kept receiver Drake London and safety DeMarcco Hellams out of practice on Wednesday, while veteran defensive linemen David Onyemata and Caleb Campbell were given the day off.
